1 Corinthians 6:9-11:
Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind,
Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God.
And such were some of you: but ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God.
Notes on 1 Corinthians 6:9-11:
Here is proof that Jesus can set you free from fornication, idolatry, adultery, being a passive homosexual, being an aggressive homosexual, thievery, covetousness, alcoholism, a nasty mouth, and being an extortioner. Such were some of the people at Corinth, which means that they no longer were any of those things. They were set free, and you can be set free, too!
(Effeminate is the translation of the word for a passive homosexual who allows an abuser of himself with mankind – an aggressive homosexual – to perform unnatural acts on him.)
There is no point in watering down the message of this passage. It means exactly what it says plainly.
The word thief refers to an embezzler in the Greek.
Anyone claiming to be a “Christian homosexual” is just as deceived as someone claiming to be a “Christian extortioner” or a “Christian thief.” If you buy into the person’s lie, you are deceived too!
However, don’t mistake cause for effect. You do not lose your salvation because you do any of these things. An unremorseful lifestyle that includes such behaviors is the effect of not being truly saved, not the cause. If you have done any of these things and are sorry about it (rather than justifying it or even promoting it), you are NOT one of the lost people Paul is talking about. Only an unbeliever could live these lifestyles without remorse. If you are seeking help regarding any of these sins, it proves you are not unremorseful about your sin and are not one of the people about whom Paul warns.
