Am I Sick Because I Didn’t Pay My Tithes?

No.

The idea that you can be cursed for not tithing and giving offerings is only found in the Old Testament.  While the New Testament mentions tithing, no New Testament Scripture threatens you with a curse for not tithing.  Furthermore, there is NO case where Jesus told anyone that he could not be healed because he was behind in his tithes or that he was sick because he hadn’t tithed.

One crummy teaching that should be buried under a dune somewhere in the Sahara is that if you don’t pay your tithes, God will extract them from you in the form of unexpected doctor bills and expenses from car wrecks.  No one today is commanded to keep the Law of Moses.  If you don’t tithe today, you are not robbing God of something you owe Him as a legal obligation, though you are robbing yourself of the opportunity to operate in heaven’s financial system.  Abraham is our example.   He tithed because He wanted to, not because he had to in order to avoid a curse.  We are children of Abraham, not children of Moses.  The blessings of tithing still apply today as they did for Abraham, but the curse for not tithing does not.

So any sickness you have is NOT caused by failure to tithe on the cash value of your Christmas presents and birthday money!  And I’m being facetious, as I don’t tithe on those myself even though I’m a tither.  (Some people tie themselves in knots nit-picking on what they need to tithe on, just like the Pharisees were careful to tithe on the mint leaves in their gardens.  There are weightier matters you could focus on, such as your love walk.)

Jesus already paid for your healing, so it is available to you regardless of how you handle money.
