Do You Think You’re More Loving Than God?

You probably think this question is ridiculous, but if you are a typical religious Christian, you DO think you’re more loving than God and I will prove it to you.

Say that your child’s teacher informs you that your child cheated on a test today.  You decide what the punishment must be.  You find the sickest person you know and have that person blow his nose and cough into a tissue.  Then you take that tissue home and force your child to put it in his mouth for an hour, and soon he comes down with the same sickness.  There, that’ll teach that child not to cheat on tests anymore!

You wouldn’t do that?  I’m glad you wouldn’t, because they’d throw you in jail for child abuse.

But as a typical religious Christian, you assume that if you do something wrong, God will punish you, and His way of punishing you will quite possibly be to give you sickness.  There, that sickness will teach you not to sin that way anymore!

You think, “This is different.  He’s God and He has the right to punish my sin with sickness.”

If that’s what you think, you think you’re a better parent than God!  You are the more loving and merciful between the two of you.  You would NEVER do as a parent what you think GOD does as a parent.  It is apparent that something is wrong with this picture.

The problem is twofold.  The first is your ignorance of the fact that Jesus was punished and literally made sick because your sins deserved it, but His payment for your sins has redeemed you from making the payment yourself.  God will not require you to make a payment that was already made on your behalf.  The second problem is your wrong concept of your Heavenly Father.  He wants so save lives, not destroy lives.  The devil is the one who illegally oppresses people with sickness.  Jesus went about removing sickness, not dispensing it.  The devil likes to make people sick and then get them to blame God for it.  He is a deceiver.  Thinking that God deals with your sin by punishing you with sickness is reception of deception.

You are NOT more loving than God.  So the wrong mindset that God punishes His own children with sickness must go!
