Malachi 4:2:

But unto you that fear my name shall the Sun of righteousness arise with healing in his wings; and ye shall go forth, and grow up as calves of the stall.

Notes on Malachi 4:2:

In this context, the wicked will be destroyed, but Jesus Christ will come to those who fear Him with healing.  Other prophecies about the Millennium confirm that healing will be everywhere then.  This should settle what God and Jesus Christ want done – healing!

Interestingly, the Hebrew word translated wings can mean a bird’s wings, but it can ALSO mean a border or a skirt – clothing.  Jesus fulfilled this Scripture by having the healing power of the Holy Spirit present in His clothing so that people could just touch His clothing and receive healing.  I have no proof that the woman with the issue of blood understood this prophecy and touched Jesus’ clothes for that reason, though it’s possible.  It’s also possible she just heard how others were touching His clothes and being healed without understanding how this confirmed Malachi’s prophecy.  Perhaps one person started this trend based on this verse.

The word Sun does mean “Sun” – here Jesus is called the Sun of righteousness, not the Son of righteousness, though He is also the righteous Son of God.
