Mark 6:7:

And he called unto him the twelve, and began to send them forth by two and two; and gave them power over unclean spirits;

Notes on Mark 6:7:

Mark notes that they were sent out in pairs.  This was not mandatory at all times in the Bible, as Paul was alone at Athens and was later left alone when his team deserted him, and Philip initially went down to Samaria by himself.  However, we do see that Paul and Barnabas and later Paul and Silas went out together.  While Peter is mentioned seemingly on “solo” missions, we know that he had a habit of taking his believing wife with him (1 Corinthians 9:5).  Aside from having a second person as a witness in case anything questionable happens, it is useful to have another believer present so that you and the other believer can pray “the prayer of agreement” together that is discussed in Matthew 18:18-20.
