Matthew 14:14:

And Jesus went forth, and saw a great multitude, and was moved with compassion toward them, and he healed their sick.

Notes on Matthew 14:14:

This is one of many places where we can see that Jesus was moved with compassion for the sick, and that was His reason for healing them.  He was not simply showing off or proving His deity.  Besides that, He didn’t heal anyone because He was God, anyway; He did so as a Man anointed by the Holy Spirit.  If He did things because He was God, you couldn’t do what He did.  Yet Jesus said that you would do the works that He did and greater (John 14:12).
