Proverbs 15:30:
The light of the eyes rejoiceth the heart: and a good report maketh the bones fat.
Notes on Proverbs 15:30:
While this speaks of being “fat,” this is not saying that if you hear a good report, it will literally make you obese, any more than the following Scriptures promise obesity to those who water others, are diligent, and trust in the Lord:
Proverbs 11:25:
The liberal soul shall be made fat: and he that watereth shall be watered also himself.
Proverbs 13:4:
The soul of the sluggard desireth, and hath nothing: but the soul of the diligent shall be made fat.
Proverbs 28:25:
He that is of a proud heart stirreth up strife: but he that putteth his trust in the LORD shall be made fat.
Obviously, being “fat” is a biblical idiom for doing well as opposed to referring to a certain BMI reading.
So where are you going to hear a good report? One surefire place is the Bible – God’s report is always a good report!
