The Holy Spirit Has Already Been Poured Out
“Come, Holy Spirit! Be with us in power! Come flood this place and change the atmosphere! We need You! Let there be a mighty outpouring at our church! Lord, pour out your Spirit on this city! Send revival! Pour out your power and love! Show up big time in this healing crusade! Lord, let your power fall! Send the old-time power, the Pentecostal power!”
Ever hear these prayers? They all have something in common. They are a complete waste of time.
The Holy Spirit WAS poured out on the day of Pentecost and has been “poured out” ever since. People can make a choice to receive the Holy Spirit Who was already poured out, but there is no need to ask God to do what He already did. As far as God is concerned, He already DID pour out the Holy Spirit on your church and your town and “all flesh” everywhere else. The question is who will receive Him and cooperate with Him!
What would you think if your pastor greeted you at the door and said, “I implore you, please be here today?” You would think something was wrong with Him. You are already there. So is the Holy Spirit. You are His temple (1 Corinthians 6:19). (I can see why Paul asked the question, “Know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you…?” Most people know it not!) If you just showed up, the Holy Spirit just showed up because He is in you!
That is why I don’t ask the Holy Spirit to “fall” or “come” or “show up” or anything else before I preach. I carry Him around with me everywhere I go. I simply purpose to cooperate with His will for the service.
You don’t have to beg Him to “be” somewhere if you’re there! Let’s pray according to the Bible instead of man’s traditions!
