Why Does God Fill Teeth in Some Services Rather Than Heal or Replace Them?
I knew a man who had someone who was missing three teeth come up for prayer in one of his many African crusades. That man left the service with brand new teeth that weren’t there at all when he came in.
I also know someone who got a supernatural filling. I even know a preacher who specializes in supernatural filings in his services and there have been others like him over the years. Some people have gotten gold fillings while others have gotten silver fillings.
So why this variety? Wouldn’t it make more sense for God to just FIX the teeth rather than fill them?
That is kind of like asking why one blind man had to go wash in a pool to start seeing while Jesus just healed many blind people on the spot. “Signs and wonders” are up to God’s discretion. He has the right to do them any way He sees fit, and He doesn’t have to explain Himself.
Another answer is that people might find it easier to believe for a filling, which is what they’re used to, rather than a complete healing of a tooth, which modern dentistry cannot provide. This answer, though, doesn’t apply in the many cases where the fillings are by gifts of the Spirit and take the recipient by surprise. So why doesn’t God surprise people with fixed teeth instead of fillings? It surely isn’t any harder for Him to replace what’s missing rather than fill what’s missing. A dentist would probably be even more shocked to see a restored tooth than a filled one, since the latter could have been done by another dentist.
This is the type of question we may have to hold until we get to heaven, when we will “fully know.” I don’t have a definitive answer on this side of eternity. God reveals everything that is essential to know in this life (such as healing being paid for by Jesus’ stripes), but He doesn’t reveal everything.
